Is Infant Baptism a Medieval Error?
Q. Isn't infant baptism a false practice that crept into the churches during the Middle Ages when governments had the ulterior motive of wanting to unite all their people into one church, and hence one state?
A. This is often asked and often claimed. In contrast to this, covenant theology presses forward with the claim that to have a full, complete, well balanced understanding of the Christian faith one must have a proper understanding of the Old Testament as well as a thorough knowledge of the New Testament. Ultimately, in order to get to the bottom of this we will need to take a good hard look at what the Bible teaches and base our understanding of baptism on that.
